Tap on Pointe
We were at a competition one year when we saw a very original tap. As we sat through the solos, which all started to look alike after awhile, one really made us sit up and take notice.
This girl came out dressed very Victorian looking with a wide brim hat and parasol. She wore pointe shoes but as she went into her routine we realized she had little taps mounted to the points of her toe shoes!
She did a soft shoe type of routine, not that she could have done anything heavier! This was probably one of the most difficult tap routines I've ever seen simply because she never came down off of her pointe. For a solid minute and a half she gracefully waltzed and clicked across the stage without ever letting on she was in any kind of discomfort making louder sounds than I've heard entire groups make!
